New Orleans is packed with hotel options—from historic inns to modern high-rises—but if you’re looking for something that’s bold, design-forward, and in a fantastic location, the Virgin Hotel New Orleans might be calling your name.
With its playful vibe, smart design, and a rooftop that turns heads, this hotel blends the character of New Orleans with the unmistakable flair of the Virgin brand.

In this post, I’m sharing everything you need to know before you book—from the layout of the rooms (called Chambers!) to what kind of traveler this hotel is best suited for.
Hotel Overview – What to Expect
Virgin Hotel New Orleans opened in August 2021 and is located in the city’s vibrant Warehouse District. This 12-story boutique hotel features 238 guest rooms, called Chambers, including two incredible penthouse suites.
Though boutique in size, the hotel offers the kind of amenities and energy you’d expect from a full-service lifestyle property.
It’s colorful, bold, and full of personality—a perfect mix of Virgin’s signature style and New Orleans charm.

Location, Safety & Walkability
One of the best parts about staying here is the location. The hotel sits in the Warehouse District near the Central Business District, and it feels safe, clean, and easy to navigate.
If you’ve been to New Orleans before, you know not every area feels that way.
We were able to walk everywhere—to the French Quarter, the riverfront, restaurants, and music venues. It’s about a 10- to 15-minute walk to most major spots, so there’s no need for an Uber if you’re up for exploring on foot.
Inside the Room – What Are the Chambers Like?
Virgin doesn’t just give their rooms a cute name—the Chambers are actually one of the best parts of the stay.
The layout is unique: you enter through the bathroom and vanity area, then flow into the sleeping/lounge space.

The vanity setup is excellent for getting ready, with a full-size mirror, floral-print chair, and great lighting.
The bathroom features full-size Red Flower amenities, including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There’s a bench in the shower, and deluxe rooms come with soaking tubs and gorgeous decor.

You can close off the bathroom area with double doors, adding privacy if you’re sharing the room. In the lounge space, Virgin’s custom-designed lounge bed is insanely comfortable.
The red SMEG mini-fridge is stocked with snacks and drinks—a great touch if you want to hang out in the room. There are also ice and filtered water stations on every floor, perfect for refilling bottles.
Everything from lighting to temperature can be controlled with their app, LUCY, making it feel like a high-tech, high-comfort experience.

Amenities on Property
There are several standout features at this hotel beyond the rooms:
- Commons Club: The hotel’s main restaurant and bar serves contemporary Southern fare with Mediterranean influences. We had dinner here and absolutely loved it. The vibe is upscale but not pretentious, and the cocktails are excellent.
- Funny Library Coffee Shop: Located on the ground floor, this cozy cafe serves La Colombe coffee and has quirky decor, fun books, and seating perfect for relaxing or getting some work done.
- The Pool Club: Located on the 13th floor, this rooftop bar and pool area offers beautiful views of the New Orleans skyline. DJs, cocktails, shared bites, and a tropical 70s vibe make it a fun hangout spot.
- Dreamboat: An indoor section of The Pool Club with elegant lounge seating and a private club feel. Great for cooler nights or private events.
- Fitness Center: Open 24/7 and well-equipped with modern Technogym machines.
- Pet-Friendly: No breed or size restrictions, and they offer cute amenities like dog beds and Virgin Hotels bandanas.

Tour of the Penthouse Suite
While I didn’t stay in one, I did get to tour one of the penthouse suites—and wow.
Huge living and dining areas, multiple bathrooms, and thoughtful design touches throughout.
If you’re celebrating something special, this is a splurge that delivers.

What’s the Vibe Like?
This is a hotel with personality. It’s perfect for travelers who appreciate design, style, and a bit of buzz in their stay.
It’s not the best pick if you’re looking for peace and quiet or prefer a “traditional luxury” hotel. But if you want a stay that feels lively, modern, and rooted in the energy of New Orleans, it absolutely delivers.
