If you’re wondering what the best Tulum beach hotels and best Tulum beach resorts are in 2024, this blog post gives you what you need to know as well as what to expect in terms of pricing and what other travelers are saying.
One thing to know in advance: if you’re never been to Tulum, visiting Tulum beach is a MUST.
However, visiting Tulum beach vs. STAYING ON Tulum beach are two different things.
Tulum is growing really fast and in comparison to other places you can stay (Tulum Pueblo (or town), La Valeta, Aldea Zama), be prepared to pay the highest price and get the least value for your money on Tulum beach.
However, it also means… if you consider Tulum Beach, then GREAT NEWS: you’ll be ON Tulum Beach.
Spoiler: the places named in this blog post include:
- Azulik Tulum Beach (click to see)
- La Zebra (click to see)
- Delek Tulum (click to see)
- Selina Tulum Beach (click to see)
- Radhoo Hotel (click to see)
Read on for a breakdown of hotels and resorts, but don’t miss out on the other blog post that ranks gives a lineup of hotels to consider (beyond Tulum Beach).
Azulik Tulum Beach
Azulik Tulum Beach defines what many people think of Tulum for many reasons. THIS is what people think all of Tulum looks like. It has the “‘tree house aesthetic” and is an “eco property”.
What’s an “eco-property”? It’s not as sexy as you think.
In Tulum it means you need to be signed up and ready for a cool looking space, but at the sacrifice of potentially no air conditioning, or limited hours for electricity, toilets that are difficult to flush, no protection from the mosquitoes and bugs, etc.
Azulik Tulum Beach Pricing ($$$$)
Don’t forget you’re trading a visually stunning space for a price tag that for most, doesn’t feel worth it. However, it’s a unique experience that quite possibly, you’ll never do (or want to do) again.
Rates from $600 to $5,000+ per night are high for the amenities provided (albeit unique amenities). Can you find something cheaper than that? Yah, go in the dead of summer when it’s hottest and has the most seaweed on the beach and you might find a rate under $400 👀 …
Azulik Tulum Beach Reviews (7 out of 10)
Reviews are mixed across the board with most people (and friends of mine) acting similar to how they respond to achieving their first half marathon.
Phew! That was tough, but I did it! It was great! I don’t think I’d do it again.
It’s a unique experience, most can’t stand the “eco” part attached to the word “resort” and there are off putting things like a strict camera policy in which you can only use a smart phone to take photos.
Wait, isn’t there more than just one Azulik property? There is. The jungle location is also unique, VERY much off the beaten path, and provides another unique experience.
I did a livestream from the restaurant and you can get a feel for the space in this video.
La Zebra Tulum Beach ($$$-$$$$)
La Zebra Tulum Beach stands out for its inviting atmosphere and family-friendly amenities. This is VERY unique for Tulum Beach. So whether you’re coming here to stay or even coming for just the beach club portion of it, it’s a great place for families.
I interviewed Tash Haynes about how much she loved bringing her family here. You can learn more in this youtube video here.
Depending on how you look at it (I see La Zebra as “screaming kids”), being family friendly can be a positive thing!
However, while the resort does host occasional events and live music, the overall atmosphere is more tranquil. Guests looking for a bustling nightlife scene might need to venture elsewhere on Tulum Beach.
La Zebra Tulum Beach Pricing ($-$$$)
La Zebra Tulum Beach offers a variety of room types to suit different needs and budgets. Standard rooms range from $300 to $500 per night, family suites range from $500 to $700 per night, and luxury suites range from $600 to $800 per night.
La Zebra Tulum Beach Reviews (9 out of 10)
La Zebra has won a lot of Tripadvisor Travelers’ Awards and is often rated significantly higher than other properties in the area.
It wins for it’s great service and travelers consistently talk about the experience they had being taken care of. People also love the location (it IS on a great part of Tulum Beach), but it lacks in value for money
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, staying on Tulum beach simply is NOT a “cost saving” trip. You’re paying for the location, so make sure you come when there is no seaweed and great weather!
Don’t forget to pack THIS!
Tulum is not just a “beach vacay” it’s also a JUNGLE vacation. There are many items I WISH I packed on my first trip.

Delek Tulum Beach
Delek Tulum Beach Hotel is one of the more vibey (and one of the few “less pretentious”) spots on Tulum Beach.
You’ll find a lot of locals hanging out at it’s beach club and the property has everything you’d expect for a tranquil and eco-friendly retreat. (Key word “eco-friendly”).
This boutique hotel combines bohemian charm with modern comfort, providing a serene escape amidst Tulum’s natural beauty. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and adventure, Delek Tulum promises a memorable beachfront stay.
Delek Tulum Beach Pricing ($$-$$)
Room rates typically start around $300-$400 per night, with variations depending on the season and room type.
I’ve seen a lot of “deals” for non-refundable “lock in it” rates (if booked WELL in advance).
While not the most budget-friendly option in Tulum, this is on par with what you can expect for a property that is ON Tulum Beach.
Delek Tulum Beach Reviews (8 out of 10)
Reviews for Delek Tulum are well above average, but as expected, it’s the “value for money” that prevents them from a higher rating.
Many places “make you pay for sustainability”, but Delek actually DOES have a lot of sustainability practices. It’s shown in the reviews with guests appreciating the emphasis on sustainability, from the locally sourced materials used in the construction to the environmentally conscious amenities provided.
Selina Tulum Beach Hotel
Selina Tulum Beach Hotel with it’s iconic front entrance is a staple on Tulum Beach. You’ll find an ASSORTMENT of prices from dorm style rooms (hostel with shared bathroom) to glamping style rooms to traditional rooms.
At Selina, you’ll find that Tulum aesthetic everyone talks about and a lot of amenities.
They have everything you need here: a beach club (albeit if you’re wondering about it’s status of being open or closed it has everything to do with the “problems” of Tulum – I talk about that honestly in the content for those who REALLY care to learn about Tulum), a swimming pool, yoga classes, and a restaurant and bar.
Start your day with a meditation session by the beach, enjoy a healthy breakfast by the pool, and then get some work done in the CoWork space.
Selina Tulum Beach Pricing ($-$$$)
Given the MANY different kinds of rooms, the average price range of rooms varies wildly if you choose hostel ($) to regular rooms ($$$). Prices on average can be around around $50 or less for a dorm style room and $150-$300/night for a hotel room.
Selina Tulum Beach Reviews (7 out of 10)
If you look across reviews sites, Selina ranks GREAT for location (no surprise, it’s ON the beach and it’s in a great part of Tulum Beach) near many other great beach clubs and restaurants to hang out in.
However, value for money and what you “actually get” – with no surprise, it falls short.
The Radhoo Tulum
This is a wild one because I first stayed here years ago and walked up to the front desk, negotiated the price and I have NEVER seen someone get this low of a rate. Ever.
This could either be a lesson in negotiation, or we can put it in the books as “Tulum has grown a lot since 2021 and no one will get those rates again”.
The key thing to know about the Radhoo? It’s NOT on Tulum Beach. It’s on the non-beach side of Tulum Beach road which means you need to cross the street (and use their “sister property’s beach club access”) to get to the beach.
Radhoo Tulum Beach Pricing ($-$$$)
Given it’s not ON Tulum Beach, you’ll find better rates than non beach properties.
The Radhoo Reviews (9 out of 10)
Across the board, The Radhoo Tulum tends to get VERY good reviews no matter what website you look at. To be honest, I thought this place was fine, but wouldn’t stay here again.
Personally I give it a 6 out of 10.
Why didn’t I like it? The rooms were INCREDIBLY dark (the actual hotel property kind of whatever). It’s nice to have a pool, but when I think of “Tulum” I think TULUM BEACH.
It’s also very much IN THE JUNGLE. I had huge spiders (that were not “friendly ones” in my room), albeit better than having crabs when you stay on the beach side (this was my experience at Coco Tulum).
The room was basic, the service was fine, I didn’t see the place as neither here nor there.
Going across the street was fine, but it required a minimum food and beverage spend every time we went (at the time $50 per person).
Bottom Line
There is an endless number of options of where you can stay on Tulum Beach, but in this lineup, I’ve given you an overview of:
- Azulik – the iconic hotel, but well overpriced
- La Zebra – great location, but expect families/kids around
- Delek – a great vibe, a locals spot
- Selina Tulum Beach – a classic, good location, a cheap option if you choose a hostel room
- The Radhoo – a place I’ve stayed, that many love, but I think is just so-so
