Located a few blocks from the water, you can catch views of San Diego bay from the Terrace on the third floor.
This hotel is a great jumping off point to exploring the Point Loma and Downtown San Diego area.
A few things nearby:
- Next door is the marina with popular seafood restaurants and places to jump onto tours. I considered a floating tiki boat where you can enjoy views and have some drinks
- A 3-5 minute drive to Shelter Island where you can walk along the path, enjoy the views and catch some Polynesian vibes at the restaurants or resorts
- A 5 minute drive to the Liberty Public Market and park area where you can enjoy the food hall, shop and walk around
- 10-15 minute drive to the Gaslamp
- 7-10 minute drive to Sunset Cliffs for sunset views and exploring the caves
- 10-15 minute drive to Cabrillo National Monument where you can hike around, see the tide pools and enjoy the views
- Also neraby are Coronado, Mission Bay and so much more

Is the Monsaraz Hotel Worth the Price?
Given how nice the property is and it’s proximity to things in the San Diego area, I was surprised at the rate I got this hotel at. I got it at under $200/night and just the next weekend stayed at The Hilton Gaslamp, which was priced at over $300/night (but was half as nice).

Parking on site at the hotel was $37/night and valet only. However, there is a large ACE Parking lot across the street and street parking is free (I parked on the street).

Bottom Line
The Monsaraz Point Loma has great value for the stay you’ll get. The on site restaurant is definitely worth eating at and you’ll get some quieter views in Point Loma vs. staying elsewhere in Downtown.
