What’s it like participating in Shake Shack’s Pickleball Tournament and how can you play in a future event?
In this blog post you’ll find helpful information so you can play pickleball (and eat burgers!) with Shake Shack and Toss & Spin, too!
What is the Shake Shack Pickleball Club?
In 2023 Shake Shack has partnered with The Tennis Channel and Toss and Spin to create their Pickleball Club to help both newbies to pickleball and seasoned players gather together for a single day of clinics and play.
You don’t need a partner and you don’t even need a paddle.
If you’re new to the sport, they provide all the gear you need (paddles, balls and Shake Shack lemonade… and sometimes beer and spritzers), so just show up!
There is something for everyone. They offer intro lessons for those who are brand new, a clinic for those who are beginner advanced or intermediate pickleball players and then a fun and friendly tournament for all to play in.

Can You Attend the Shake Shack Pickleball Club Event Alone?
One of the great things about playing pickleball is you don’t need to show up with a partner. You can grab one once you’re there. It’s a social sport in which everyone wants to play with… well, everyone.
For the lessons and clinic, you can come alone. However, if you want to participate in the tournament, you will need a partner.
For detailed info on each of the different kinds of lessons and clinic, click here to read more on the Toss & Spin website!
In Miami I participated in both the clinics and the tournament. Want to see what this day is like and travel with me? Check out the full video below!
At the San Diego event, I only participated in the tournament, but luckily I was able to pair up with someone who was willing to jump in to play last minute (thanks, Daley!).

What’s the Shake Shack Pickleball Tournament Like?
The first word that comes to mind to describe it is: FUN.
Unlike other tournaments I’ve played in where the competition is intense, the goal is to win and the atmosphere can be stiff – here it’s just.. FUN.
Imagine this: Upbeat music playing, people drinking Shake Shack lemonade on the sidelines with everyone cheering for you, and silly names for the pickleball teams.
It was a very friendly, very good time.
Yes there were matchups where I knew the competition could have crushed me, but people aren’t attending this event to bring out their hardest slam game.
It’s an all around good time and the best part? Everyone wins with Shake Shack burgers at the end (they would have let me eat two.. or 10.. if I wanted to).
The Shake Shack Pickleball Event Was Held At The Barnes Tennis Center
Shake Shack’s Pickleball Club events rotate around the United States, but this specific event was held at The Barnes Tennis Center, in San Diego, California.
Located in Point Loma within San Diego, California, the Barnes Tennis Center is a beautiful facility with four pickleball courts and many tennis courts (*full blog post coming soon).

Bottom Line
Whether you are new to pickleball or a seasoned player, the Shake Shack Pickleball Club promises a GREAT time on the court with a fun social atmosphere. It’s a fantastic way to learn the sport as a newbie, improve your game in a clinic as an intermediate beginner, or have fun on the court for all levels in their friendly tournament.
Best part about it? Everyone wins with Shake Shack burgers!
