The problem? You’re likely on board doing the “there’s hot lava underneath me dance” and you’re antsy to figure out if you should get that placeholder “My Next Virgin Voyages” certificate.

They do a good job encouraging you. That’s why I bought one while on board during my second sailing, and on THAT third sailing (using the certificate) I met Jason Carter (aka JC) and learned:
I sold myself short. Real short.
I should have been on my sailing with over $1,000 of sailor loot if I had booked with JC. Instead I had a couple hundred dollars in loot in “My Wallet” and I was feeling very WTF.
I fixed that by working with JC. Here’s one example of what I got for free after that:

FYI I fixed that in my fourth sailing by NOT getting a My Next Virgin Voyages voucher. I learned my lesson: don’t.
If you’re thinking “there’s no way she got that much loot from JC”. I literally talk about it and spend it ON CAMERA in this video. So go watch it.
It was REALLY FUN for me to shoot this video btw. Not gonna lie.

But like I said in the beginning, Virgin Voyages has changed. They’re more expensive now. With less deals and less incentives. It’s what they said straight up in the Town Hall meeting I attended during the Top 100 Virgin Voyages Soiree (reminder: JC is a Top 10 First Mate, i.e. top 0.04%. There are 22,000 First mates. That’s a lot).
And along with that, they don’t offer the killer deals they used to. So over time, the “My Next Virgin Voyages” offers have been less and less and less and less and less and…
You get the point.
Regardless, we can look out for you in a way that looks at EVERY combination of getting a deal (because FYI there’s more than one way to do it).
But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s first understand “what exactly is My Next Virgin Voyages and how does it work?”…

Here’s What Most Sailors DO NOT KNOW About My Next Virgin Voyages
My Next Virgin Voyages, also known as “MNVV” is presented as an easy way to lock in a discount for your future sailing, but here’s what they don’t always tell you:
- The discount amount changes frequently and has already been updated multiple times. Exactly example: the MNVV offer changed three times in 2024.
- MNVV expires after two years, meaning if you don’t use it, you lose it. See the story below for a COMMON example.
- Only certain room types qualify—you must book a Sea Terrace or higher.
- You cannot use MNVV for Insider, Lock It In, or Limited View Sea Terrace rooms. See story below for an example.
- MNVV cannot be combined with some regional and promotional discounts, such as (state) Resident or Military rates. But we can “do the math for you” to figure out what combination of discounts and deals works best SPECIFIC to you.
Many sailors assume they’re getting a great deal when they purchase MNVV, only to realize later that they’re locked into a higher-priced room category or unable to combine it with a more valuable discount.
