Kimpton Epic Miami Hotel Review 2024

If you’re considering staying at the Kimpton Epic Hotel in Miami, Florida, you might be wondering the same thing I did, which is:

Is the Kimpton Epic a good hotel?

One of the things that caught my eye when I was researching this hotel is that the Kimpton Epic often ranks as one of the top 10 hotels in Miami.

But the second question I asked was: Is it worth the price?

I’ll be honest—one reason I chose this hotel was the discount I got using Hotel Tonight (and you can get an additional 20% of your booking by using code CLOZADA14) – it’s a secret many don’t know about.

Read on for a helpful review, because after staying here, it’s a hotel I highly recommend. It’s my number one choice compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at or seen in the area.

The Average Price of the Kimpton Epic Hotel Miami

Is the Kimpton Epic Hotel expensive? The first thing to note is that there are several room types, which can significantly affect the average price you can expect to pay.

I stayed in a standard room called a “Two Double Cityview.” This room is 475 sq. ft., includes a balcony, a table area, and was on a higher floor (23rd floor).

While the price of the Kimpton Epic can vary by season, weekends, and holidays, on average, a standard room costs between $220 and $350 per night (before taxes and fees).

The Kimpton Epic Hotel is an IHG One Rewards property, which means if this is your loyalty program, you can potentially save a lot by using points when booking.

Additionally, there is a required resort fee. The fee is $35 plus tax per room, per night, and comes with several credits. For example, a two-night stay would be $70 plus tax.

You can read on below is a list of amenities you can expect, but first let’s talk about the rooms.

Rooms at the Kimpton Epic Hotel

Even though I booked a standard (or what the Kimpton calls an “Essential”) room, the first thing I noticed when I walked in was how spacious it felt.

A small entryway with a mirror leads past the oversized bathroom with a double sink, deep soaking tub, and shower, into the main bedroom area, which was well-lit by the sliding door window leading to the balcony.

What was nice was the table with two chairs, providing a seating area for our room.

The room felt modern, with nice lighting and small details. You can see a video tour in the full YouTube video by clicking here or below.

The beds were comfortable, though the two-bed City View rooms have double beds, not queen or king. While this felt small, we didn’t upgrade the room to a single king because we knew our Miami alcohol tab was going to exceed the thousands (LOL… but that’s another story!).

However, we spent a considerable amount of time on the property enjoying the many amenities. Read on for more about that!

Amenities at the Kimpton Epic Hotel

The required resort fee for the Kimpton epic felt justified because the amenities at the property were really nice.

The Pools

The key amenity that we enjoyed is the 16th floor pools. I loved the set up of this space. You have two separate pools on the same deck with lots of seating options and areas around it.

There is a bar that serves the pool as well as weight staff that comes around, or you can head over to the outdoor bar and lounge area of the area 31 restaurant.

On the weekends, you’ll find live DJs and a really nice vibe while enjoying the pool and the Miami skyline.

Complimentary Wine at the Evening “Social Hour”

One thing that’s a really nice demonstration of hospitality at the Kimpton epic hotel is there nightly social hour from 5-6pm.

A few white wines and rosé are part of the selection of one hour of free wine served in the lobby area.

They do not pour lightly, you can enjoy the wine in the beautiful high ceiling lobby area, or take it back to your room.

Additional Amenities at the Kimpton Epic Hotel

  • 24 hour fitness center with Peloton bikes
  • In-room spa services
  • In-room yoga mats (as well as provided umbrella and robes)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Pet-friendly with no extra fees
  • On-site dining at Area 31 and Zuma restaurants
  • Complimentary bicycles for guest use
  • Valet parking

A note about parking

One thing to note about the parking is that, as expected, it’s not cheap. While prices change all the time, the current price is

  • $28 for day parking (i.e. up to 4 hours)
  • $52 overnight with unlimited in and out privileges to the garage
  • Oversized vehicles are $67

Yes there is valet service, but one thing to be aware of is the WAIT for your car (even though they have A LOT of friendly staff working outside) might be really long.

I parked off site using a secret travel hack I use when I’m traveling around the US with a car and that’s SpotHero.

I paid $24 for 2 nights of parking. That’s unheard of in Miami *pats self on back.

Location of the Kimpton Epic Miami

One of the top things I loved about this spot was the location. I had friends staying next door at the W, and we spent a lot of time walking into Brickell or taking short Uber rides into downtown Miami.

Also, from the hotel, there are restaurants just steps away. A few of my favorites were:

  • Happy hour at Hell’s Kitchen
  • Naked Farmer for easy, counter-style food
  • Julia and Henry’s (a multi-level food hall that has a bar on every level)

Another convenient feature is the Whole Foods across the street, perfect for grabbing snacks and a jug of water for the room.

Bottom Line

Overall, the Kimpton Epic Hotel was one of my favorite stays in the Miami area. I had friends staying next door at the W Hotel, and after seeing both the hotel and their room, I was absolutely thrilled I didn’t choose to stay there. Not only did it cost more, but it wasn’t nearly as nice as the Kimpton Epic.

I can see why this property gets great reviews and is often ranked among the top hotels in Miami. The service was fantastic, and the rooms were modern, spacious, and comfortable.

One thing that might change my opinion is if I visited during bad weather. If I couldn’t easily walk to the areas I wanted to explore or enjoy the pool, that would have significantly impacted my experience.
