They’ve had 99 drone problems and (literally) swimming through a river in which every restaurant toilet empties out into was one of them.
These are some of the craziest drone stories I’ve heard. From drone crashes, to getting spare parts sent to remote islands (accidentally delivered the day after they’ve left), drones getting stolen, or controllers running out of batteries, literally NOTHING is stopping this content creating power couple Danni and Fede @scratchyourmapa from flying their drone.
They met while working on a cruise ship and their first drone was the Mavic Air in 2019 with one of their first flights capturing themselves staying on a capsule on the side of a mountain in Peru.
Later that year one Fede’s first drone crashes was when the drone propellers got caught in the moss hanging from the trees over a river and cause the drone to fall into the water. As he went to fetch the drone, he later realized the river it was in was the same river every restroom toilet emptied into.

One mindset Danni and Fede has is to not be afraid. Travel, life and flying drones are all an adventure and the risk is worth the shot. So just SEND THE DRONE!
Key Learnings
- When they first starting flying their drone, they wish they knew the automatic safety features built into the drone. One example, when your drone is low on battery, it will automatically fly back to you.
- Especially if you are traveling, bringing spare parts for your drone is important if anything needs to be fixed. The parts are not always easy to come by depending on where you are traveling.
- It’s easy to get small bits of sand and dirt in your drone if you launch and land from the ground. Over time this can damage your drone. Unless you have a very clear area to take off (like cement or asphalt), the ability to hand launch and land your drone becomes very important. However, don’t make it the first thing you master with your drone!
