Roberto Ochoa shares his first scuba diving experience and his fear of sharks and his journey to become an amazing scuba diver and underwater filmmaker. Filmed in the Maldives, we hear Roberto’s story of his love for the ocean and experience with not just sharks, but a seal that saved his life, crocodiles and more.
Meet Roberto Ochoa. One of the most INNNNNSANE divers and film makers. He tells his story from being a surfer that grew up in Ecuador afraid of sharks to (literally) being frozen when he saw his first shark while diving in the Bahamas.
Was it a scary shark? No it was a harmless nerf shark and after that he became a scuba diver.
His takeaway? Get in the water and snorkel or dive somewhere you’ll fall in love with the ocean. Let your first experience be a place that will make you want to do it again and again and again. Then go learn what’s in there. It might surprise you.
He’s gone from being afraid of a nerf shark to swimming with 40-50+ sharks in the Galapagos. And even still, things come up (like that time a seal saved his life).
This story is meant to inspire you to be a little more badass today than you were yesterday.
Filmed in the Maldives, you can watch it on YouTube (with some of his amazing shark footage) or everywhere podcasts are located.
