Some cruise lines allow you to bring wine on board and some don’t. Does Virgin Voyages have a wine allowance? YES!
One of the great perks of cruising with Virgin Voyages is they DO allow you to bring wine onboard. However, there are rules.
If you’re wondering about the rules, here’s everything you need to know to avoid confusion and make the most of your allowance.

How Much Wine Can You Bring?
Virgin Voyages allows passengers to bring two 750ml bottles of wine per stateroom. This is not a per-person allowance but rather per stateroom, so plan accordingly if you’re traveling with a partner or friends.
What Counts as Wine?
The policy covers standard bottles of wine, including champagne, which is classified as wine. However, it does not extend to other types of alcohol, such as vodka, rum, or hard liquor. Attempting to bring larger formats (like magnums) or boxed wine will not be permitted, as the allowance strictly applies to regular 750ml bottles.

When Can You Bring It Onboard?
You are allowed to bring wine onboard at the port where you first embark for your cruise. Note that this policy does not apply to subsequent ports during your trip.
IF you are on a back-to-back sailing, you need to GET OFF the ship, get more wine (up to 2 bottles), then come back on board. You can’t “bring more” on the first go-around.
Don’t forget to pack THIS!
Virgin Voyages has reimagined sailing and what you need to pack on for this trip is DIFFERENT than a normal cruise line. There are many items I wish I knew to bring (that I didn’t have with me on my first sailing).

How to Pack Your Wine
Many people ask if you have to carry-on your wine. The answer is: yes.
Technically you’ll be put on the “Nauti List” if you put your wine in your checked bag (they’ll hold it for you till the end of your voyage). So if you want to MAKE SURE you get it, carry it on (i.e. carry it through the terminal, through the check in process) and don’t forget your room is ready as soon as you board!
What Happens If You Forget?
If you miss the chance to bring wine onboard, don’t worry. Virgin Voyages offers a fantastic selection of wines at their onboard restaurants and bars. While it’s not duty-free, the options are curated to enhance your dining experience. Read more about that by clicking here.
Bottom Line
Yes, you can bring wine on Virgin Voyages! Stick to the two 750ml bottles per stateroom rule, and remember that this allowance applies only at your embarkation port.
