If you’re looking for the best hotels in Tulum, you might consider staying at Aloft Tulum!
In this blog post, I’ll share my experience and review of the property, providing a detailed look at both the highlights and lowlights to help you make an informed decision.
Whether you’re planning a relaxing getaway or a productive remote work trip, Aloft Tulum offers a unique blend of comfort and style. Let’s dive in and explore everything this hotel has to offer, but don’t forget, this is one of MANY blog posts about hotels to consider in Tulum!
Overview of the Aloft Tulum
Aloft Tulum is a relatively new property, having opened in February 2021. It still has that fresh, new feel. The hotel has four floors with two pools—one downstairs and a rooftop pool.
The downstairs pool is a beautiful space with a lovely sitting area, perfect for relaxing.
If you’re after sleek amenities and comfort, this hotel could be a great choice—but let’s dive into the pros and cons to help you decide.
Hotel Amenities
One of the standout features of Aloft Tulum is its modern amenities. The property has a gym with air conditioning throughout the hotel, which is a real treat in the Tulum heat.
However, this modernity might make you feel like you’re not in Tulum anymore, lacking that rustic jungle vibe some people seek.
If you’re used to staying in Tulum’s more rustic accommodations, this might feel like a refreshing change. You’ll enjoy:
- Air conditioning everywhere (a huge plus in the Tulum heat)
- A fully equipped gym (perfect if you plan to stay for an extended period)
- Fast, reliable Wi-Fi for working remotely (great for digital nomads)
- Two pools: one on the ground floor and a rooftop pool with an adults-only area
Lobby and Common Areas
The lobby is a vibrant and versatile space. Aloft hotels are known for their focus on music, and the XYZ bar in the lobby is a great spot for a drink. The space is also excellent for getting work done, with a tour desk to help you book taxis and other activities. If you’re a digital nomad, you’ll appreciate the ample co-working spaces and the reliable Wi-Fi.
There are plenty of outlets, reliable Wi-Fi, and cozy spaces in the lobby where you can get some work done. Plus, there’s a co-working area if you need a dedicated spot.

Rooms and Comfort
The rooms at Aloft Tulum are clean and modern, with some great features like air conditioning at the push of a button, a refrigerator, and super comfortable bedding. The hotel also has excellent security, requiring a key card to access the floors with rooms, which is reassuring, especially for solo travelers.
Rooftop Pool and Dining
The rooftop pool is a highlight with stunning views, although it’s adults-only. The rooftop area is perfect for an Instagram photo shoot or a relaxing evening. The hotel’s dining options are impressive, with breakfast served daily and a fantastic dinner menu at the rooftop restaurant.
Location and Accessibility
One of the biggest advantages of Aloft Tulum is its location. It’s not directly on the beach, which means you’re not paying the high prices that beachfront hotels demand. However, it’s conveniently located between Tulum Pueblo and the beach, making it easy to access both areas. There are plenty of things to do and places to eat around the hotel, and it’s easy to catch a taxi.
Don’t forget to pack THIS!
Tulum is not just a “beach vacay” it’s also a JUNGLE vacation. There are many items I WISH I packed on my first trip.

Bottom Line
Aloft Tulum is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a modern, comfortable stay with great amenities. While it doesn’t offer the rustic jungle feel, it makes up for it with its location, amenities, and overall comfort.
If you’re planning a trip to Tulum, this hotel is definitely worth considering.
