I’ve traveled the world alone and it’s been my most rewarding experiences. When you have NO ONE to answer to but yourself, it’s very empowering. And it’s VERY important to me to stay safe while traveling because the only person that has my back… is me.
8. Share your plans with someone
๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ with someone and consider using an app like find friends so loved ones know where youโre at for the duration of your tripโฃ.
7. Arrive during the day
Daylight is on your side. Itโs not fun to roll into a foreign place after midnight and find your way (with new currency and a different language and potentially no phone connection) to a place youโre staying that youโve never been to before.
6. Download an offline google map
Itโs key for jumping into a taxi and making sure they are taking you EXACTLY to your destination when you donโt have phone service.โฃ
5. Don’t post to social media real time
๐๐ผ ๐ถ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฒ โ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ โฆ ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ. In other words, consider waiting till AFTER youโve left a location to post about where you wereโฃ
4. Know how to get to first location
Kickoff a great trip stress free by having a clear A to B strategy of getting to your first destination. In other words, do ALL your logistical research to get to the first place safely.
3. Money
Don’t keep all your cash in one place, hold as little of it as you can, and try VERY hard not to bring it all out at once (in public).
2. Consider how you dress
Whether the place you’re going to has cultural rules or not, consider wearing something that will help you blend in vs. stick out.
1. Be aware
Headphones off and all senses firing. When I’m traveling alone, I like to experience it with all my senses while not distracted. This also helps you to be 100% aware of your surroundings.
