Just booked your Virgin Voyages cruise? YES! This post walks you through the five most important steps to take after you’ve booked to make sure you’re fully prepared for your vacation.
From check-in tips to dining reservations and everything in between, consider this your personal post-booking checklist.

Step 1: Download the App & Complete Check-In
As soon as your booking is confirmed, download the Virgin Voyages app. It’s where everything happens—check-in, dining reservations, event planning, and more.
Once installed, log in using either your booking number or the same email you used when booking.

You’ll go through a 7-step process to complete check-in. One of the most important parts? Your boarding time. The earlier you check in, the better chance you have of getting an ideal boarding time.
Boarding time tips:
- Mega RockStars: 1:30 PM
- RockStars & Splash of Romance: 1:45 PM
- General boarding: Starts at 2:00 PM
Step 2: Watch for Final Payment & Shore Things (Excursions)
At the 120-day mark before your sailing, two important things happen:
- Your final payment is due.
- Shore Things (excursions) open up for booking.
If there’s a tour or experience you really don’t want to miss, book early. Popular Shore Things like horseback riding on the beach or small group wine tastings do sell out. The good news? Most can be canceled up to 48 hours before the excursion.

Step 3: Set a Reminder for Dining Reservations (45 Days Before)
Dining reservations open at midnight (your local time) exactly 45 days before your sail date. You’ll be able to book:
- Dinner at each of the six main restaurants
- Brunch at The Wake and Razzle Dazzle
🔹 On shorter sailings, you can book each restaurant once. On longer ones, sometimes more than once.
Don’t stress if you don’t get your ideal times. About 30% of dining reservations are held for onboard guests, and RockStars or Splash of Romance sailors can often tweak plans when they board.
Helpful tip: Book brunch on a sea day so you’re not rushing off the ship.

Don’t forget to pack THIS!
Virgin Voyages has reimagined sailing and what you need to pack on for this trip is DIFFERENT than a normal cruise line. There are many items I wish I knew to bring (that I didn’t have with me on my first sailing).
Get a free printable pack list and save yourself the headache!

OR if you’re just looking for some inspo! See the curated list of Amazon items I’ve put together (and use!) for Virgin Voyages.
Step 4: Preview the Agenda in the App
Start exploring what’s happening onboard by tapping into the “Agenda” in the app. You’ll get a sneak peek of:
- Shows and performances
- Classes and pop-up experiences
- Fitness sessions and social events
But don’t get too attached—the schedule will change as you get closer to sailing. It updates about 2 weeks before, again 1 week before, and again onboard.
Know the difference:
- Some events (like Grog Walk) are bookable once onboard and can fill up fast.
- Hearting something just adds it to your list—it doesn’t reserve it.

Step 5: Fill Out Your Health Form (24 Hours Before)
This one’s easy but essential. The day before you sail, log in to the app and complete your health form. It confirms you’re healthy enough to board.
Takes less than a minute per person. Don’t forget to do it for each sailor in your cabin!
I’m going to be honest: I’m a super savvy traveler and I didn’t believe travel agents could get a better deal than me..
